Despite their ferocious appearance, bulldogs are usually both friendly and patient and form strong bonds with children. Their bond with their family can be so strong they may not leave thier yard without a human accompanying them. The bulldog is more likely to be found sleeeping in someone's lap than being outdoors playing ball. They also get along well with other dogs and pets. Bulldogs are very sensitive to heat due to their small nasal cavities and are prone to hyperthermia. They require air conditioning and excellent ventilation. They may become loud snorters as well as heavy breathers and are known to snore loudly. In college football, the Bulldog is known as the mascot of the University of Georgia.
