The Yorkshire Terrier (aka "Yorkie"), despite its being a small breed, is a very active, overprotective, curious and overprotective dog. They also love attention. For these reasons, this breed is not considered suitable for a household with young children. They are instead recommended for homes with older families and those with children over eight years of age. They tend to bark frequently, thus making them good watchdogs. The "Yorkie" also needs much physical and mental stimulation such as long walks and/or runs. However, the breed trains easily, travels well, adapts well to different environments make good pets in many homes.
